![]() Things I like (granted, I've never played Lineage 1 M or Remastered, only old school, so I don't know what was already in Lineage 1): You can get duplicate cards and you have to fuse duplicates for a slightly higher rarity chance like other garbage mobile games. Morphs aren't based on character level (not much other than character stats are), and instead you roll for rare morphs/dolls like gatcha games.Adena basically only buys you hunting supplies, a limited number of n-zel/n-dai per day, and a couple of chances to roll for morphs/magic dolls.Trading with another player requires a transaction fee of 100 diamonds You can only trade non-bound epic tier or above items. Player economy is completely locked behind diamonds. They explicitly make the ability to transfer items to another player something that's more scarce. Anything you craft is bound to your character, with like a 4% chance of it being non-bound i.e. Or you can grind them up to the Blacksmith (they should rename him to Garbageman) into fragments so you can trade 1000 fragments for a random chance at something useful, Pokemon GO style. ALL common weapons sell for only 550 adena, all common armor for 275 adena (so nothing). You get some common non-bound equipment from mobs, but after you fill out your common item codex, they're basically worth nothing. That's on top of the actual materials being even rarer, such as Mithril for Unique items. To craft Unique or above equipment, you even need a Recipe item of that rarity.Hunting orcs for ore so you can craft rare items gets really monotonous. ![]() For example, pretty much all Rare equipment require 25 Ore. You can access crafting menu from anywhere, but crafting is uninteresting and the materials are deliberately very rare.Common is trash tier, Rare takes a lot of grinding, and anything Unique or above is practically impossible without dropping money. Everything within the same rarity has similar power-level and each level is exponentially rarer than the last. There's no gradual progression between rarity tiers.Everything from items to morphs/magic dolls are structured in a common/rare/unique/epic/legend rarity system. Here's a list of things they've changed that I hate: I think if you had a couple of days with the game, you'd start to understand how they stripped away one of the core means of progression in an MMO. The answer to your question is an emphatic no. The question is, can you actually get away without paying and still git gud? Or can u do it for a price comparable to a non-free game? The only way P2W will ever go away is if people stop being willing to pay it. I do think it sucks for the players who actually play and don't want an unfair playing field, but lets not pretend there was ever a time when the game wasn't plagued by P2W. So I think NC and other companies realized ppl are gonna P2W regardless of any rules they set, so they might as well take a cut and make it official. Even on a private L1 server I found a few years ago, after awhile I discovered ppl are buying adena from sweatshops! I remember people paying hundreds of $$ for Adena and hard-to-find items. my friend sold his char with TOI charm and all gear for $1800 when he quit around 2005 from LoA. Even the original Lineage 1 was pay-to-win. I don't know yet how I feel about the P2W-ification of these games. So I don't know exactly how to answer that. I am in USA so I cannot play LW (unless u have some advice).
